A bar of deodorant soap can be purchased for under $5. The Tom's of Maine Deodorant Soap is about $5 at Wal-Mart, Lever 2000 Refresh retails for between $2 to $3 for a two-pack and the Dial Gold Antibacterial Deodorant Soap is about $3 for a three pack.

Combine olive oil (or other carrier oil of choice, but I find extra virgin olive oil to work well and I always have it around the house anyway) and castor oil. This is a deodorant only, and it will not keep you from sweating (though it does do a good job of absorbing most of it, and certainly keeps you from stinking). If you fill that silicone (no more hard plastic) with this home deodorant (set in a cup to fill & harden) you can squeeze it up, apply and it goes back in for storage. I've been using UARMSOL deodorant for many years now, even when I sweat, I have no more underarm or armpit odours. Also, the deodorant is on the softer side so I have been keeping it in the fridge.

If the oil is hard (since coconut oil has a melting point of 74°F, it may be solid or liquid depending on how to make deodorant spray warm or cool you keep your home), mash it with a fork to soften it a bit. I will not argue with you that this is a better alternative with natural ingredients, It is. But please do not mislead people into thinking that this is that much cheaper than buying deodorant. In the end, it's mainly about personal preference, as results with roll-on and stick deodorants are essentially the same. I just made my deodorant bars two days age and left out the baking soda and just used more arrowroot as per instructions. I usually just mix everything in the container, but I wanted to show you the look and consistency of the mixed deodorant. To avoid marks on your clothes, let the deodorant dry for a few minutes before dressing completely.

I've tried adding it to an old deodorant container, but had to keep it in the fridge and didn't like putting on cold deodorant. Or even reduce the baking soda amount, just to see if less baking soda would help. No previous edible or chewable deodorant product appears to have succeeded in getting much of a hold on the market, he added. Just leave the clay out (although it's a great staple ingredient to invest in).

Note: The first recipe below is the new more stable version with beeswax added, and the second recipe is the original. I can't be sure of course, but adding an essential oil like lavender, jasmine, or tea tree oil would be a good start for experimenting! The stick looks convenient, but you wouldn't be able to dampen the soda and get rid of the grit because of the oil. Single-ingredient products, such as coconut oil, Shea butter or various clays, are superb products. All I do is squeeze the juice out of a lemon, strain it, and put it in a spray bottle.
